Every Kid Needs a Hero!
There is no better way to captivate a child’s imagination than to put on the costume of their favorite superhero! At A Hero For Kids, we strive to build better communities for children by having Batman, costumed characters, Veterans and First Responders talk to them about reading and even hand them a book to read.
We are a 100% all-volunteer organization dedicated to holding events, visiting children in hospitals, and providing characters at the events of non-profit organizations throughout Central Florida – delivering a unique “superhero experience” in full costume! Our goal with every initiative we take on is to serve children, Veterans and First Responders in the community, helping them improve the quality of their lives and build a brighter future.
While childhood literacy is our primary focus, we also collect and give out school supplies, backpacks, school uniforms and needed services at the beginning of the academic year…as well as holding a toy drive and meal event for the holidays. It’s all part of creating positive initiatives that serve to make our community a better place!
Veterans and First Responders
A Hero For Kids was founded by John Kalish, a decorated infantry leader with the United States Army. One of John’s core beliefs is that our military veterans, police officers, firefighters, and teachers are the true heroes, even though they don’t wear capes.
At A Hero For Kids, we invite and encourage our “true heroes” to volunteer at our events and help make kids’ dreams come true. These programs give our veterans and first responders an opportunity to put their dedication to their community and their country to work in a new and exciting way!
